Jesus
Christ is the Light of the World,
The
light no darkness can overcome.
Stay with us, Lord, for it is evening,
And the day is
almost over.
Let your light scatter the darkness,
And illumine your
Church.
Joyous
light of glory:
of
the immortal Father;
heavenly, holy, blessed
Jesus Christ.
We have come to the setting of the
sun,
and we look to the
evening light.
We sing to God, the Father, Son,
and Holy Spirit:
You are worthy of being praised
with pure voices
forever.
O Son of God, O Giver of life:
The universe proclaims
your glory.
The Lord be with you.
And also with you.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
It is right to give
him thanks and praise.
Blessed
are you, O Lord our God, king of the universe, who led your people Israel by a
pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night: Enlighten our darkness by
the light of your Christ; may his Word be a lamp to our feet and a light to our
path; for you are merciful, and you love your whole creation, and we, your
creatures, glorify you, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

lovingkindness descend upon us, that with purified minds we may sing your

READING Romans 12:9-21
9Let love be genuine; hate what is
evil, hold fast to what is good; 10love one another with mutual
affection; outdo one another in showing honor. 11Do not lag in zeal,
be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord. 12Rejoice in hope, be patient
in suffering, persevere in prayer. 13Contribute to the needs of the
saints; extend hospitality to strangers.
14Bless those who persecute you;
bless and do not curse them. 15Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep
with those who weep. 16Live in harmony with one another; do not be
haughty, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are. 17Do
not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight

Response
In
many and various ways
God
spoke to his people of old by the prophets.
But
now in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son.
The GOSPEL CANTICLE is sung.
My
soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord;
my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has looked with favor on his
lowly servant.
From this day all generations will
call me blessed.
The Almighty has done
great things for me,
and holy is his name.
He has mercy on those
who fear him

pray to you, almighty God, in this time of pandemic. You are our refuge and our
strength, a very present help in time of trouble. Do not let us fail in the
face of these events. Uphold us with your love, and give us the strength we need.
Help us in our confusion, and guide our actions. Heal the sick, console the
bereaved and afflicted, protect the innocent and helpless, and deliver all who
are in peril; through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Lord
God, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the
ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go
out with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is
leading us and your love supporting us; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
