O God of mystery, out of death you delivered Christ Jesus, and he walked in hidden glory with his disciples. Stir up our faith, that our hearts may burn within us at the sound of his word, and our eyes be opened to recognize him in the breaking of the bread. Grant this through Jesus Christ, the first-born from the dead, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Sermon - Second Sunday of Easter

'Jesus addresses [Thomas,], not with anger, but with love. Jesus comes to him not in overpowering strength, but in weakness. ‘Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.’ The one who inherits the earth, the Lord of all, is meekest of all. He comes to Thomas and he makes himself vulnerable, just as he’d made himself vulnerable to the lepers, to the disciples, to the crowds, to the religious leaders and the soldiers, all the way to the cross. He invites Thomas to see and touch and to believe.'

Sermon - Easter Sunday: April 9, 2023

'It is at that point, when we understand our condition, face-to-face with our reality as it is and not as we wish it were, then we are at the point that we can hear the good news, that though we thought Jesus was dead, it is not so. Like the women, we hear the voice of a messenger, not for us an angel, but like for all others after the women, the voice of a flesh-and-blood human being saying he is not here; he is risen!'
